The Spiritual Tools Needed for Life

What are tools? According to Webster, one could view a tool as a device or implement, especially one held in hand, used to carry out a particular function. For example, "gardening tools.”
Nonetheless, we are talking about tools necessary for our life’s journey. In Business, we still need God’s guidance and divine wisdom. Through His word, He shared what we needed and equipped us. The key is knowing they are there and using them.
So now it’s time to look in your arsenal. What tools do you have? What are they? Do you know how to use them? Have you used them?
Some tools we have used and often incorrectly… The list below includes those tools most would readily speak up about. Unfortunately, to be so popular, they are often treated vicariously or utilized through the eyes of ignorance.
• Prayer
• The Word of God
• Meditation
• Fasting
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Word of God is our source, one of our primary tools. He said the word is sharper than any two-edged sword. This means that every time you study the word, it can quicken you; it will show you what needs more work. Then you go and reason with your Father (Isaiah 1:18). This is supposed to be our way of life. You are supposed to get into His Word constantly. That same word teaches you. It will show us who we are; when it does, we should do the work to get in place. Now if you say no, I am not going to deal with that, well, you just put yourself right back out there at the base of the mountain.
Check-in and put the tools to work; this is your opportunity to face what is necessary to continue your journey successfully! To do that, you will need to know what tools are required. You must also read the instruction manual to understand proper usage better.
As a kid, there were specific tools (knives, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.) that my parents did not allow me to handle. This was primarily due to my age and immaturity. I didn’t know anything about these items, and one false move would cause injury, possibly to myself or someone else. How often have we heard of incidents where someone mishandled equipment and caused problems for themselves and others around them? This is also an issue as it relates to us today in Christendom. We utilize different God-given utensils as we will. Often, we do this without proper guidance on the correct usage. Two passages come to mind about this ordeal one is found in Hebrews the other is in Galatians:
Galatians 4:1-7 (KJV)
4 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Several tools are mentioned in this very passage…. Time, your position as a son, and the fullness of time (I know the question is in your mind, yet they are two different things).
In this passage, the importance of these tools was and is essential for forward movement. Individuals, organizations, ministries, etc., can stand and move forward if they consider these tools hidden in broad daylight. These tools we don’t often consider yet work boldly behind the scenes. How do we know? Scripture tells us in Matthew 6:4-6 the following:
Matthew 6:4-6 (KJV)
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you; They have their reward.
6 But when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Some of these tools require secrecy; however, we won’t know if we refuse to settle and hear His voice. We can build a successful business, ministry, and family through His guidance.
